In view of the many global crises, an accelerated energy transition is more important than ever. This requires a growing citizen energy sector and, for this growth, the participation of society as a whole. The share of women in civic energy in North Rhine-Westphalia has risen slightly in recent years, but is still only 29%; in Japan, the share is even lower. In order to further increase the participation of women, numerous would have to be removed as well as new thought patterns and action strategies introduced. This is evident in empirical surveys, as well as in internal citizen energy conversations and in interviews with people who have not previously been active in citizen energy. The World Wind Energy Association and the NRW Renewable Energy Association have therefore developed ten recommendations for action on how to increase the participation of women in civic energy.
